The Fatimids found al Qahirah, the Victorious City, and with it al Azhar, one of the oldest universities in the world.
The Fatimid dynasty, following the Ismaili Shia tradition, built a new capital beside ancient Fustat and named it al Qahirah. Its mosque of al Azhar grew into a beacon of learning that continues to this day, later becoming a great center of Sunni scholarship. Cairo rose to rival Baghdad in wealth, art and trade.
تأسيس القاهرة الفاطمية
يؤسس الفاطميون القاهرة، ومعها الأزهر، من أقدم جامعات العالم.
بنى الفاطميون، وهم على المذهب الإسماعيلي، عاصمة جديدة بجوار الفسطاط وسموها القاهرة. ونما جامعها الأزهر منارةً للعلم ما تزال إلى اليوم، وصار لاحقًا من أعظم مراكز العلم عند أهل السنة. وارتقت القاهرة حتى نافست بغداد في الثراء والفن والتجارة.
