OTTOMAN EMPIRE

The Splendor of Mughal India

16th–17th centuries CE· 10th–11th centuries AHDelhi and AgraArts & Culture

The Mughal emperors weave Persian, Indian and Islamic arts into gardens, miniatures and the white marble of the Taj Mahal.

From Delhi, Agra and Lahore, the Mughals governed one of the wealthiest realms on earth. Their workshops perfected miniature painting and carpet weaving, their poets raised Urdu into a literary language, and Shah Jahan’s Taj Mahal, built in memory of Mumtaz Mahal, became perhaps the most recognized building humanity has made.
